Vieira Lula
Lisbon, 2022
Low relief sculpture made by Henriette Arcelin during an artistic residency at the Viúva Lamego factory-studio. This piece was included in the exhibition Ria Formosa curated by Felipa Almeida for Lisbon by Design. The artist Henriette Arcelin started by making a watercolour inspired by the natural beauty of Ria Formosa in the Algarve, and then made various ceramic pieces representing some patterns and elements of the illustration.
Founded in 1849, Viúva Lamego is one of the first Portuguese tile factories. Since the 1930s it provides artistic residencies and encourages collaborations between artists and master artisans.
