A Grande Feira
Lisbon Design Week • 27 –31 May 2026
For the 2026 edition of Lisbon Design Week, I presente the culmination of a five-year cycle marked by 11 thematic fairs held in my studio in Campo de Ourique. The exhibition A GRANDE FEIRA brought together around 60 artists who shaped this collective story and served as the stage for the launch of THE BOOK OF FAIRS.
The book grew from a desire to resist the transience of the fairs — preserving an ephemeral gesture by gathering the memories, ideas, collaborations and moments that turned them into a creative laboratory. It is also an expression of gratitude to a generous community that took on challenges, explored new ground and built, together, a space for discovery and encounter.
The launch and exhibition took place at the historical Farmácia Gomes — opened in 1934 and unchanged in its original architecture. A former laboratory and place of knowledge and craft, the venue was the ideal setting to revisit this journey: its drawers, display cases and quiet corners hold pieces from the fairs, re-editions of earlier works and new proposals sparked by those same challenges.
The book was launched with a conversation moderated by Inês Meneses, with artists Isa Toledo and Madalena Parreira (Hunchback Society) — participants in several of the fairs — and Joana & Mariana, who were responsible for the book’s graphic design.
Bringing together publishing and curatorship, book and exhibition, I celebrated not only the closing of this cycle but the energy it released — a place of surprise and ongoing creativity.
