Hand painted ceramic tile panel by Maria Emília Araújo, Portuguese modernist ceramist and painter (b. 1940).
Maria Emília Araújo began studying ceramics in Porto at the Escola de Artes Decorativas Soares dos Reis, and continued her studies in Lisbon at the Escola António Arroio, where she was a student of the ceramist Querubim Lapa.
Closely to the modernist movement of Portuguese ceramics in the 1950s, she works in her studio at the Viúva Lamego factory.
