Single piece commissioned by Felipa Almeida for the exhibition Amor é Cego (Love is blind) at Livraria Lello in Porto, in homage to the novel Amor de Perdição by Camilo Castelo Branco.
Hunchback Society, the artist duo Madalena Parreira and Jorge Nesbitt, collaborates on every stage of the process, from clay modeling to firing and glazing.
Part of a set of seven pieces, the Cup evokes the era of the novel, the convent, and the exchange of secret love letters between Teresa and Simão.
It was hand-sculpted in stoneware and glazed in a color created by the artists to resemble the hue of 17th-century Italian majolica dishes.
The selected phrase, 'Creio em ti' (I believe in you) was painted with high-temperature glaze on unglazed clay using the majolica technique.
