Coleções · Felipa Almeida

“Our aim with this publication is not to propose yet another interpretation of the collecting phenomenon (…). Our proposal is less ambitious but, we hope, no less significant: we seek to contribute to the understanding of private collections in the Portuguese context, particularly those centred around popular art and craftsmanship.

On the one hand, we aim to shed light on the extensive array of works housed in private collections, as it is precisely within these collections that some of the most intriguing objects can be found, whether due to their aesthetic qualities or their rarity. Given their nature, these collections rarely leave the domestic spaces of their owners, making their broader dissemination particularly important.”
