INTERWOVEN
Calipo, Vila Viçosa • 2026
Heleen and Pieter, the curatorial duo behind Omarcity in Antwerp, invited me to develop INTERWOVEN with them — an exhibition where our cultures and curatorial practices could intertwine.
I invited five designers based in Portugal — Lucie Schweitzer of Fantasque, Helena Novelletto, Lia Raquel Marques, Macheia and Margarida Lopes Pereira. Omarcity invited designers from Belgium — Atelier Balancé, Laure van Brempt, Lerry Ceramics and Partine.
Over the past two years we brought this wonderful team together several times in immersive sessions, including a residency at Hotel Calipo in Vila Viçosa last December. Coming from different generations, backgrounds and disciplines, they developed a body of work defined by experimentation — collaborative pieces created specifically for the space, where techniques and materials meet, drawing inspiration from Alentejo.
These collaborative works, alongside a selection of individual pieces from each artist’s practice, were presented over a weekend of art, music and food at Hotel Calipo, from 10th to the 12th of April.
We still have some pieces available and will be showing them again near Lisbon at the end of June. Until then some pieces will be in my studio in Lisbon.
