Amor é Cego (Love is Blind)
Estremoz
My favourite piece of Portuguese handicraft. The origins of this blindfolded cupid figure go back to the 19th century. It is one of the iconic works of Figurado de Estremoz, which in 2017 was classified by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Nowadays the craftsmen create them in various interpretations, but always holding a heart pierced by arrows in one hand, a bunch of flowers in the other, and two wings on its back.
